The Dances You’ll Learn

Tarantella (Southern Italy)

The iconic folk dance of Southern Italy — energetic, rhythmic, and deeply communal. Danced in pairs or groups, it celebrates joy, life, and connection.

Pizzica (Puglia)

A captivating dance from the Salento region of Puglia. Rooted in ancient ritual, Pizzica is expressive, earthy, and deeply personal — a dance of healing and release.

Tammorriata (Campania)

A powerful drum-driven dance from the Campania region. Tammorriata is raw, grounded, and deeply connected to the rhythms of the tammorra drum.

Two women are dancing in a spacious, well-lit indoor area with large windows. One woman has short dark hair and is wearing a black lace top and long skirt, while the other has long red hair, glasses, and a similar outfit. They are holding hands and raising their arms as they dance, with blurred audience members visible in the background.

What to Expect in Class

  • Simple steps and rhythms from Puglia, Calabria, and Campania

  • The stories, history, and meaning behind each dance

  • How to dance confidently in a group circle

  • Ways to express your own personality through the movement

What to wear & bring:

  • Comfortable clothes

  • Flexible shoes or barefoot (avoid just socks - the polished floors can be slippery)

  • Optional: flowy skirt for traditional feel

  • Water bottle

Performing Troupe

Our Performing Troupe is for students who would like to share their dancing in community spaces, festivals, and events throughout the year. Open to all experience levels — you can choose to perform at one event or join us for multiple showcases, as much or as little as suits you.

What to Expect:

  • A welcoming, diverse and inclusive group

  • Choreography offered at a range of difficulty levels

  • Space to express your individual style

  • A supportive, high-energy environment

Getting Involved: There is no cost to be part of the troupe. Speak to us in class if you're interested in performing.
