About Melbourne School of Tarantella

Founded in 2011, we are Australia’s first school dedicated to Southern Italian traditional dances.
Our commitment to cultural education and community engagement was recognised with the Merri-Bek Council Award for Contribution to Arts and Culture, highlighting the impact of our workshops, classes, and performances across Melbourne.

We preserve and share the rich tradition of the Tarantella through weekly classes, school incursions, community workshops, and live music and dance performances.

Tarantella is a dance that blends individual expression with group connection. We believe dance is still a powerful way to communicate, and we aim to create a welcoming space where people of all ages and backgrounds can learn, move, and belong.

Our performing troupe and Sanacori music ensemble bring the rhythms and stories of Southern Italy to life. Fresh, contemporary, and true to tradition.
